Let’s discuss why KKR must go all in for Yashasvi Jaiswal after missing out on Hardik Pandya. We will also look at the Jaiswal vs Dhruv Jurel race for the Rajasthan Royals captaincy.
Mumbai have also made it clear that Suryakumar Yadav is not available for a trade after interest from KKR and LSG. Read our Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma Mumbai Indians update for the full picture.
Why KKR Needs Jaiswal
- They missed out on Hardik.
- They have no captain.
- They are going into the auction with a huge purse of ₹50-60 crore.
- This mini-auction has no big names, so cash alone will not fix the squad.
Jaiswal is a Test regular, a future white-ball star, and a captaincy candidate. With Gill captaining India and Vaibhav Suryavanshi getting all the spotlight at RR, Jaiswal may want a team where he is the main man. KKR can offer the opening slot, the limelight, and the captaincy.
If KKR would not give Harshit Rana and Angkrish Raghuvanshi for Hardik, they have to pay that price for Jaiswal. Do whatever it takes. You cannot miss out twice.
Jaiswal or Rinku Singh as KKR Captain?

- Rinku Singh: Has captained at the domestic level and won trophies. But he is nowhere close to the India setup right now.
- Jaiswal: Far more long-term promise, with a longer India career ahead.
If KKR must choose, Jaiswal is the stronger pick.
Rajasthan Royals Need a New Captain?
Riyan Parag is almost certainly stepping down. The two names in the race:
Yashasvi Jaiswal
- He has been vice-captain under both Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag. After all those years as the deputy, he has earned the captaincy now. Keeping him as the permanent vice-captain would be unfair.
- He plays the way modern T20 is played, which keeps the team running smoothly.
- Giving him the captaincy is also the surest way to stop him from leaving.
Dhruv Jurel
- He is still developing and took on a number three role last season.
- In some matches he was very slow and in others very fast, so it is hard to hand him the job right now.
- He may get there in time, but not yet.
Jaiswal is the clear choice. A player cannot be vice-captain forever, and overlooking him again would be a disservice to him. Show some respect.
The Twist
If RR give Jaiswal the captaincy, a trade becomes unlikely. If they do not, he is on the market, and KKR will be waiting. Either way, this is the story to watch before the auction.
